People who have had an emotional or physical traumatic upheaval which they continuously relive and cannot let go of may be experiencing PTSD. It can be a result of severe repeated abuse, the sudden death of a loved one, being raped or assaulted, witnessing death during wartime, surviving a natural disaster or losing a parent to a violent crime. Those who have been victims of this kind of trauma at a very early age and only remember feeling anxious and fearful may not even realise that they are in fact suffering from this condition. These people may experience panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares or experience severe depression and may relive the memories and anxiety with the same intensity as if the event were real over and over again. They may appear to function normally at times but may be very jumpy and nervous if startled in any way. At other times they may seem to be overreacting when they lash out in anger or cry at the slightest provocation. Most people are able to slowly come to terms with a trauma after a period of weeks or months has passed. About 1 in 3 people however continue to experience the same debilitating anxiety and the situation seems to deteriorate more and more affecting every aspect of their life. This may be manifested in failed relationships, lonely, perfectionist, depressed, alcoholic, drug user, workaholic to cope or unable to hold down a job. Hypnotherapy can help you heal you heal your inner self so that you can let go of the past and be happy. |
